I'm Martin Wells

My name is Martin Wells, and for as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed owning, caring for and training dogs.
I worked in the customer services industry in various forms since leaving school (which was a long time ago!).

I studied Kennel craft and Animal Care at Sparsholt College passing with distinction. This led into working for Guide Dogs for the Blind Association as a dog and staff trainer. I was solely responsible for training up to ten young dogs at a time and having to keep accurate records on their training and health. Sadly not all the dogs that came into the centre made it through training for various reasons, normally due to a health concern. One dog was Samson who I managed to sneak home and he stayed there happily for many years. This made all those cold, wet, dark walks worth it!

I was lucky enough to spend some time with the Surrey Police dog section, observing and taking part in their dog training programme with general purpose dogs and specialist sniffer dogs. I felt very privileged; it was interesting and great fun to work with such highly trained and motivated people.

Up until recently, I have been working for the Ambulance service. This means I have an advanced driving standards qualification, making my 'Yappydays' pet taxi ,safe and secure for all.
During this time I also studied and passed a diploma in canine psychology with merits, adding to my knowledge base. I am always reading and can always learn more.
